Goodyear Dunlop Tires North America in the Town of Tonawanda has named a new plant manager.

John Romero, a Goodyear company veteran, is completing his move to the area this month, according to an employee newsletter. He was not available to comment Wednesday.

Romero succeeds Aaron Hildebrand, who left the company in October.

Production manager Tim Frey has filled in as interim plant manager since Hildebrand’s departure.

Romero has been with Goodyear in a variety of roles for nearly 23 years; since 2011, he has been the production manager at a plant in Gadsden, Ala. He began his career as a tire builder at a plant in Lawton, Okla., working in a host of Goodyear plants in different roles since then.

Romero has a bachelor’s degree in technology and design drafting from Cameron University in Lawton, Okla. He and his wife have four daughters.

Goodyear Dunlop’s Sheridan Drive complex has about 1,200 employees, producing tires for commercial trucks, passenger cars and motorcycles. The unionized workforce’s contract is scheduled to expire in July 2013.

Hildebrand served as the Tonawanda plant manager for a little more than two years. His LinkedIn profile shows he now has an executive position with Pall Corp. in the environmental services industry.
