Albright-Knox Art Gallery announced Tuesday that it will team up with First Niagara Bank to establish a new mentoring program for young artists, AK Teens.

The program will offer workshops and personal guidance on making art, working in the arts and other talents, including public speaking. Volunteers from First Niagara will teach sessions on the financial considerations of making art.

“First Niagara has been an outstanding supporter from the first time we talked to them about this idea,” said Karen Lee Spaulding, the gallery’s interim director.

“We are delighted that they will be active partners in AK Teens, providing not only financial support for the program, but also important expertise in helping our teens understand how to manage the practical aspects of their careers, such as budgeting and securing funding for their work.”
