The top of a tractor-trailer was sheared off this morning when the driver of the vehicle crossed under a low bridge in the westbound lane of the Robert Moses Parkway.
The road crosses under the Grand Island Bridge. The low bridge which commonly causes problems for drivers of tractor-trailers and mobile homes who apparently do not see or disregard warning signs about the approaching underpass, according to State Police.
The trailer was empty at the time of the 9:15 a.m. crash and no injuries were reported. The road was not closed, but troopers were called to the area to direct traffic and used a blow torch to cut up the damaged trailer, according to police.
It is unknown if the driver will face any charges.
