A slick morning commute will give way to warmer temperatures Monday afternoon, meteorologists said.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory from 2 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday for all of Western New York, and predicted snow late tonight into early Monday, resulting in one to two inches of snow and sleet, and less than a tenth of an inch of ice by morning.
“It’s not a lot of anything but the mix of snow and ice will cause a slippery morning commute,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Jon Hitchcock.
Snow is expected to turn into freezing rain, sleet and then all rain.
Drivers should leave extra time Monday morning and use slower speeds, Hitchcock said.
Temperatures tonight will fall to the lower 20s and reach the upper 20s by daybreak, with highs of about 40 by Monday afternoon, Hitchcock said.
Winds on Monday are expected to be about 15 mph.
No problems are expected during Monday’s late afternoon commute.
