Welcome 2013
I wish I had the solutions,
To my New Year’s resolutions,
But the ones that have been made,
Just seem to be ignored and fade out of sight
How many promises does one truly keep,
As most are casually tossed into a growing heap?
We say we’ll exercise more and eat far less,
But my friends usually confess
That it’s a heavy burden to adhere to their list
As their fatty, sugar-filled foods would soon be missed.
Such good ideas are put on paper
Soon to vanish in a wispy vapor!
We purchase a card for a special event,
Yet rare is the occasion on which they are sent.
We drive with great caution to avoid an accident
Though another driver causes one in a happy haze of poor judgment
We should answer a letter or make a call
But usually end up doing nothing at all.
So hopefully 2013 will be a happy
and healthy year,
For our dear friends and family
Those far away distant and blessedly near.
