Working

Every morning when

the sun begins to shine,

Without the sound of the alarm,

cannot get to work on time.

We must stay at work

for eight hours a day,

Perform our daily functions

to receive the take-home pay.

Work creates the money

to buy the things we need.

Don’t spend it on fun

with many mouths to feed.

Year after year goes by,

struggling through the daily grind.

Don’t let the routine

spoil your peace of mind.

If you do your duty

and work a full career,

A pension may come your way

for your trouble through the years.

If you make enough money

during your entire working life,

Enjoyment will fill the golden years

without any stress or strife.

Don’t let work take

everything you have to give,

Save some for the future

when you really start to live.

– Nelson R. Locher
