City moving to fire employee accused of theft

The Brown administration will seek the termination of city worker James E. Dempsey, who handles park permits.

Dempsey, 40, is accused of theft, according to the administration. The matter is subject to a hearing in front of an arbitrator in City Hall.

In April 2011, Dempsey was suspended without pay from his job as a city recreation director after he was arrested on charges of cocaine possession when he was driving a city-owned youth van. Those charges were dismissed.
