RIPLEY – A citizens group plans to file suits to remove four members of the Ripley Central School Board and nullify a decision by the board to dissolve the high school and send the students to Chautauqua Lake High School in Mayville, it was announced Monday.

The group of about 60 district residents, which has retained Amherst attorney Steven M. Cohen to represent them, is seeking to remove board president Bob Bentley, vice president Nancy Rowe and members Ted Rickenbrode and Fred Krause.

The group also is asking the State Comptroller’s Office to audit the district, “which appears to have been engaging in an illegal and unethical course of fiscal conduct for several years,” said Cohen, who added that the group also hopes to restore the high school as well as 16 teaching jobs that have been cut.
