BETTER ANGELS – The Above the Rest Motorcycle Club, a drug-free riding group, will host its 10th annual Bike Blessing at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Schiller Park Community Center, 2057 Genesee St. It’s free and open to all motorcycles, scooters, bicycles and Can-Am Spyders, which are those three-wheeled models. “If it’s a bike,” the organizers say, “we’ll bless it.”

Food, raffles, music and vendors will be available. All who come are asked to bring a white balloon in support of cures for lung cancer. For info, call 390-0314.

GEARING UP – Speaking of bikes, Jim “Jumbo” Griffin is hosting a benefit from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday in Molly Maguire’s, 834 Abbott Road, to benefit the annual Ride for Roswell, which takes place June 22. Donation is $20 and includes beer and pizza. There will be prizes, auctions and music by Billy LaRusch and Friends. For info and donations, call Griffin at 912-2603.

CURE WANTED – An event to raise awareness about Prader-Willi syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes developmental problems and a chronic feeling of hunger, and to raise funds for a cure, will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Zoofari Courtyard at the Buffalo Zoo. It’s being organized by Matt and Liz Bystrak, of Orchard Park, whose 3-year-old daughter, Violet, is affected by the syndrome.

For a minimum $25 donation per adult, families will get admission to the zoo, lunch, a T-shirt, a scavenger hunt and private animal meet-and-greets. For info, visit http://onesmallstep.fpwr.org.

HITTING THE STREETS – The seventh annual Cummins Run for Literacy, a 5K run and walk, takes place at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry St., Jamestown. Proceeds support the library’s Literacy Center, which trains volunteer tutors to work with adults who need help with basic reading, writing, math and English as a second language.

Registration begins at 8. Fee is $17. The first 200 to sign in Saturday get a free T-shirt. The library will serve refreshments and present awards on the lawn afterwards. In case of rain, the party will move inside. For info, call Bobbie Caswell at 484-7135, Ext. 236.

SADDLE UP – The Knights of Equity and the Daughters of Erin, Court 5, will hold a Night at the Races on Saturday in the Buffalo Irish Center, 245 Abbott Road. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the race starts at 7.

Entry fee for those who want to name a horse is $10, which includes a roast beef sandwich, potato salad, dessert, beer and pop. For those who don’t want a horse, the fee is $6. Call 812-0537 or 677-4497.

INTO THE PAST – Ladies will don Victorian dresses to serve the annual Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday in the Hull Family Home and Farmstead, 5962 Genesee St., Lancaster. The menu for the three seatings – 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. – includes tiny tea sandwiches, fresh scones and petite homemade desserts.

Seating is limited. Cost is $20 for adults, $10 for children 10 and under. Tours of the historic house will be available for tea guests from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For info and reservations, call 741-7032.
