Open Buffalo – a new collaborative involving four Buffalo nonprofits, PUSH Buffalo, the Coalition for Economic Justice, Partnership for the Public Good and VOICE-Buffalo – has been awarded $100,000 from the Open Society Foundations.
The planning grant aims to bring about system change relating to equity, justice and democratic practice. Open Buffalo will use the funds to create a plan to increase the low-income and minority community’s influence and access to economic, civic and political opportunities in Buffalo. Open Buffalo will prepare a multi-issue, multifaceted plan for long-term change. It will award implementation grants to three to five sites, with funding of up to $1 million per year for at least three years.
