A committee that includes students, teachers and administrators will be part of the decision to hire a new middle school principal in the Cleveland Hill School District, with interviews beginning next week.

The committee, comprising 14 people, gave district administrators ideas about what types of qualities they would like to see in the new principal and have already identified 11 candidates for consideration.

Mary Pauly, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, explained the timetable during a Board of Education meeting Wednesday night. The candidates will be narrowed down to three by the end of the week, after which Superintendent Jon MacSwan will make a recommendation to the board.

“We’re going to be very diligent,” Pauly said of the search.

Jill Sherman, principal of Cleveland Hill High School, has been supervising the middle school in the absence of a regular administrator.
